Workplace Meditation Classes
Our workplace meditation classes
are designed to make meditation accessible
to everyone. We teach you a range of simple meditation techniques
that you can practice in your board room and easily integrate into your busy
life. Regular meditation will help participants feel more focused
and energetic, reduce stress levels and enhance memory and
concentration.
Our corporate meditation classes are mainstream and practical. We won’t make you sit in
funny postures or change your beliefs in any way…we will simply show
you how to experience a deep sense of physical relaxation and a
calmer state of mind.
Meditation is an excellent way to quieten the 'noise' in your mind.
The simple meditation techniques we teach can be
practiced easily on your own after just one class.
Workplace
Meditation class format
In a one hour class participants will have the opportunity to
meditate as well as learning about the reasons meditation is
beneficial. Both our 'Mainstream Meditation' and 'Mindfulness'
classes include:
-
Discussion about benefits of meditation
- Instruction in different meditation techniques
- Practice of guided visualisation meditation
- Discussion about obstacles to meditation
- Recent research findings
- Further meditation practice
- Questions and wrap up
Mainstream Meditation
The Mainstream Meditation corporate meditation class is one hour
in duration and includes instruction in simple meditation
techniques, time to meditate and discussion about how meditation can
increase overall physical and mental
wellbeing. This class is an excellent introduction to meditation and
particularly beneficial when participants are sceptical about trying
meditation for the first time.
Mindfulness Meditation
Mindfulness is the art of being 'present moment'. In this one hour
class we teach participants the benefits of focusing their attention more clearly. This class is particularly
beneficial to improve workplace relationships, develop self
awareness and reduce stress levels.
We provide handouts and offer individual support at the completion
of the class where required. Programs are suitable for beginners or
as a refresher course for those who have some meditation experience.
Classes are conducted with participants sitting on chairs so can be held in your meeting or board room.
Recent research about the
benefits of meditation
'People who meditate grow bigger brains than those who don’t.
Researchers at Harvard, Yale and, the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology conducted brain scans and revealed that meditators
boasted increased thickness in parts of the brain that deal with
attention and processing sensory input. Many said, “it reduced their
stress, increased clarity of thought and their tolerance for staying
focused in difficult situations.'
'Psychology Today' from Harvard University
'A 2006 Time magazine article, "How to Get Smarter, One
Breath at a Time," notes that meditation not only reduces stress,
but it also reshapes the brain. In its reshaping, the brain changes
in ways that appears to increase attention span, sharpen focus and
improve memory. Sara Lazar, a research scientist at Massachusetts
General Hospital, found that daily meditation practice thickens
parts of the cerebral cortex, which is responsible for
decision-making, attention and memory. Her conclusion is that
meditation makes employees sharper and more productive.Based on
these findings, large corporations such as Google, Hughes Aircraft
and Deutsch Bank are now routinely providing meditation instruction
to their employees. Employers, however, also applaud the practice
because it not only increases employee productivity but also
significantly decreases absenteeism, workers compensation and
disability claims from stress related illnesses.' 'Research
Findings Support Meditation’s Effectiveness' by Beth Cohen from
University of California
'We are at a time when companies lose $200 billion in
absenteeism, low performance, tardiness, and workers' compensation
claims related to stress ... if business were clever, what they
would do is simply put time aside and have a quiet room for people
to carry out a meditative behaviour of their choice.' 'Business
Week' from Dr Herbert Benson, Mind Body Medical Institute -
Harvard Medical School.

What our clients say
‘Kate taught us a number of different meditation techniques that
were surprisingly simple to learn yet effective. Kate herself is a
fantastic advertisement for meditation as her presence was calming
yet energising.’ Michele Leembruggen,
Sustainable Building Coordinator, City of Melbourne
‘Some of my senior
leaders were sceptical about meditation in general and some were
feeling quite uncomfortable with the thought, however we persevered.
We then arranged a session at our last leadership offsite. Within
minutes of meditating the team realised that they were feeling more
relaxed and everyone agreed, that it’s a simple and practical tool
for stress management. We now have a number of the team meditating
on a more regular basis.' Franca Alessi, Business Support
