Liz Bull from Lizzy C Photography and I met around a year ago. From the time we met, I was completely inspired by her. She’s the youngest business owner I know – and one of the most successful.
Then Liz decided to set up her business, people tried to talk her out of it. They said she needed to work as an assistant first. She ignored them and got on with it (this pretty much sums up her personality – she’s one of those ‘can do’ girls with a truly vibrant energy).
These days she is highly sought after and almost booked out. To top it off, last week she won AIPP’s ‘Victorian Landscape Photographer of the Year’ award – including a bunch of other silver awards.
Liz has very kindly volunteered to be the first participant in our new blog segment profiling some of the fabulous clients we work with. Hopefully you’ll be inspired by their stories.
What do you love most about having your own business?
Doing what I love. Meeting and working with a wide gamut of people each with their own interesting story.
What would you do differently if you had your time over?
Nothing. A mistake is only a mistake if you don’t learn from it.
What are you most proud of professionally?
Not taking the most conventional career path and making it work for me. Oh, and winning the Victorian Landscape Photographer of the Year, last week.
What are you looking forward to?
Being continually challenged and having the opportunity to work on more personal photographic projects which challenge, inspire and document the world around me.
Who inspires you?
Margaret Bourke-White because she was a pioneering female photographer who took photographs which are a testament to the time and events of her era. I really like her photographs.
How did coaching help you?
I’ve found that in general it has helped me focus my goals and keep on track. I particularly like working with Kate because she understands my business ethos and helps me to stay true to it.
What’s your personal philosophy on how to live life well?
Surround yourself with people who inspire, challenge and care about you. Have many great conversations over great bottles of wine.
