At the end of each year (right at the very end), I set aside a few hours to reflect on how I've spent my time during the year, any insights I've had and what I want to focus on in the year ahead.⁣It's a process that has helped me in so many ways, not least of all, bringing to life the dream of wanting to live where we do. Something I remember each time I’m running a retreat is how transformative it is to slow down. To rest for half an hour with your feet up. To meditate twice in a day. To make time for a walk or a swim. ⁣They’re not big things but often we don’t prioritise them because they seem less important than the busy things. But they make the world of difference. This week, I encourage you to steal half an hour from a day and do something that feels like you’re genuinely resting.Pretend that you’re on a retreat and switch your phone off, make a cup of tea, put your feet up and do nothing more than savour the luxury of time. 🙏#byronbayretreat

Being in a state of overwhelm makes us less productive and often even frozen. It's when we're most likely to procrastinate (and self-sabotage) and it's usually when we're at our least effective and most stressed.⁣Try the following five tips to get you through a period of overwhelm (I recommend starting with no. 4 😉). 1. Choose just one thing to focus on and put everthing else aside for now. 2. Find one baby step you can take immediately that will take you no longer than five minutes.3. Revisit your long list and look at what you can let go of.4. Walk away from everything for a few hours and do something to rejuvenate yourself.5. Tighten your boundaries and get better at saying no. ✨

If you've ever wondered why you feel things so deeply, why loud environments and people overwhelm you and why watching the news is just too much for you, chances are you are highly sensitive. And while sensitivity is often framed as a negative attribute, it is also a wonderful gift.⁣Dr Elaine Aron has been researching what she calls 'highly sensitive persons' for over thirty years now and her research has found that around 15-20% of people are sensitive and it's a trait that we are born with. While some days you might wish your sensitivity away, it's worth embracing your many gifts.It's likely that you:* Have higher levels of empathy* Are naturally creative* Experience joy and love more deeply* Have deep friendships* Feel a great appreciation for nature* Are innately intuitive* Appreciate the little things in lifeIf you're curious to learn more about sensitivity, visit Dr Aron's website, hsperson.com, take the high sensitivity test and read some of her wonderful resources.Grab a copy of the book, Sensitive by Jenn Granneman and Andre Sólo (thank you to my dear friend Lindy @enaproducts for the recommendation) or visit @sensitiverefuge for helpful tips.And finally, be kind to yourself when you're feeling sensitive. When it comes to life's big decisions, most of us have experienced a time when we felt frozen or stuck or flooded with too much information to think clearly.⁣This was how I felt when we first considered moving house after living in one place for 25 years. One day I'd wake up thinking, 'yes, it’s the right thing' and the following morning, I'd be firmly back in the 'no' camp. My husband was exactly the same – neither one of us wanted to get it wrong, particularly for the other.While some days I found it hard to listen to my intuition, once I started looking for small signs, there was synchronicity everywhere.In the end, I made a single phone call – to a real estate agent who had been recommended – and the day he came to visit, we both knew the timing was perfect.What unfolded after that was a series of beautiful little miracles that validated our choice and made me feel that without question, we would end up in the right place. That was over six years ago now and it was the best call we have ever made. If you’re facing a tough decision, I hope these questions here are helpful. Even if you still have some doubts, know that at the right time, the answer will miraculously just become clear. 🌿

I've just had the joy of handing over a new manuscript and I've been reflecting on how lovely it is to finish a project and even more, to realise a dream.⁣I wanted to be a writer for as long as I can remember and while I've had other books published over the past decade, this one feels different to me.A few years ago, I began researching a humble kind of confidence that might appeal to the introverts I work with. I've discovered so much interesting research on this topic.The book won't be released until early next year but I can't wait to share it with you.
